In 2000, the governmental School for the Blind in Yangon decided to invite a famous Burmese musician during 6 months to train their students in music. A small group of 14 students started to practice every day at the school. Some volunteer musicians regularly come to the school to teach them new techniques as it is not possible in Myanmar to integrate the mainstream Music School for blind persons. Their group called Starlight performs at least 7 times a year in several occasions (national celebrations, festivals...) and they receive fees for each show.
They are specialized in 2 kinds of music: traditional Myanmar songs and modern music.
Leader of Modern music: Seinbahtwe
Leader of Traditional music: Zaw Myo Win

The school welcomes 150 children. Every Thursday and Friday, the students are learning arts & crafts and once a week, they focus on music & dance. However, the school doesn't have specialized art teachers for these arts activities. An annual arts celebration is organised at the end of each year at the school.
