Description

The Lao Bangfai Club was set up in 2004, with the aim of teaching youngsters international dance styles like breakdance and pop dance as a way to give them entertaining alternatives to drug use and other anti-social activities. Currently, the club has over 50 regulars, about 30 of whom are registered as members, with the rest learning how to perfect various dance styles with the association. They have toured countries such as France, Thailand and Cambodia.

Their objectives are to:

• promote youth participation and self-expression
• promote Lao culture locally and internationally through mixing contemporary music and arts and Lao traditional influences.
• promote gender equality (LBF always encourages B-girls to join its activities)

They are also performing with artists with disabilities, under another name: the Net dance group at the Lao National Rehabilitation Centre.
